Third World Art is an initiative that aims to bring together fascinating, unique exhibitions, hihe-away artists studios depicting the versatile role of beads and recycling in our province and exploring different media, while comprehensively celebrating and showcasing our community; featuring the most daring exchanges in traditional subjects of art in recent South African and, moreover, uniquely Eastern Cape ways of painting and general artistic expression, engaged in partnership with other provinces.
It is an intensive ongoing program of exhibitions, workshops and seminars delivered mostly by Eastern Cape artists for the Eastern Cape, with technical and professional support from individuals from other provinces, including, without limitation, local artists, professionals and academics.
A passionate display of the life of artists in the Eastern Cape, exploring and using the creative forces that come from being prominent South African and Eastern Cape artists.
Cleverly exploiting the use of various forms and mediums; an array of metaphors to symbolize and, ultimately, to encourage debate on different topics. Third World Art will focus on the establishment of viable mentor-ships and educational programs that engage with society on issues of environmental and cultural concern. Third World Art aims to ultimately provide its participants with the inspiration and platform to become South Africa's most versatile artists and with names synonymous with innovative, pioneering and ground-breaking collaborations.
